This is my first real post/article/blog post/whatever on this site, hi! I’m Gabe, this site is mainly going to be used for me to post whatever’s on my mind, akin to a blogging site. You can maybe find news, opinions, reviews, maybe even guides, literally whatever I’m thinking of.
Intro/History
My post-secondary history is a mess, I studied Economics for a year, Comp sci for a year and a half, and have now finally landed on journalism/writing. I think I landed here because I like asking questions, talking about stuff I enjoy, and writing.
This site is supposed to be a project that’ll let me show employers or friends what I’m working on, and they’re supposed to go “Wow that’s sick.” It’s a bit of a portfolio, a notebook, and just a place where I can learn/express myself, even a bit of an archive for myself.
How the site is made
This site was made by me my friend alex AI!! We love vibecoding. It’s called gwong because that’s my first initial and my last name (doxxed), it was originally called Pressroom, but I thought it sounded too AI-ey. It’s a local-first publishing setup, I write and edit posts on my own computer first. The live website is just static HTML, no database, no nothing. The writing side has a local editor, a markdown file for each post, and a preview panel. Here’s what it looks like:
A lot of this site is built with AI, lowkey all of it. I don’t really get what’s going on in the background, but I’m able to change most things here, how it looks, different functions etc. The goal isn’t to become a coding god, or to build an insanely impressive website, but more to build a website that I’ll use and share.
